On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Earth Day 2010 – April 22nd, BNP Paribas takes the opportunity to point out the necessity of creating a global green economy and advancing the preservation of our planet. We are taking part in an international research project on the greatest challenge of our time – climate change – conducted by the 18th Bulgarian Antarctic Expedition in Livingston Island. Mr. Ullrich-Guenther Schubert (Chief Executive Officer of BNP Paribas S.A. – Sofia Branch) participated in the expedition and supported the Bulgarian scientists on examining frozen soil in relation to the global warming. The photos taken during the expedition in December 2009 of the spectacular Antarctic landscapes will help draw attention to the scarcity of natural resources and remind viewers of their importance.

In addition, BNP Paribas Bulgaria is sponsoring a documentary film by Mrs. Tzvetelina Atanassova “Black and White” presenting Antarctica: the place, where the birth of life can be traced back and where the marks that civilization leaves on the planet are clearest to see. On April 24th, at 19:15 from the screen of the Bulgarian National Television the viewers will learn surprising facts and concrete information about melting glaciers and the future of the Earth.
