With the financial support of the Foundation BNP Paribas Bulgaria, Tochitsa Press published the book “Respect and Disrespect” in Bulgarian language. This book is part of the series “Philosophical Breakfasts” and 100 copies of it will be distributed free of charge to schools in Bulgaria.
The book by Michel Puech and Brigitte Labbe “Respect and Disrespect” not only carefully separates sincere respect from its formal signs, but it also raises the subject about self-respect as an internal measure, as a basis for moral. Like all other books from the series “Philosophical Breakfasts”, “Respect and Disrespect” serves as a ground for discussions in class, as a subject for conversation between children, a conversation, which could give a start to one civil education.

Does a child know that he/she deserves respect not because of school grades or because of origin, but simply because he/she is a human being ? Do adults around him/her distinguish “obedience” from “respect” ? Is it possible to respect someone you do not know ?

Answers to these questions are found while reading “Respect and Disrespect”. Apart from different situations, where children & adults, or children & children show examples of respect and disrespect, in the rich illustrated hardcover book, one can read stories tackling some of the major questions, which school education often does not succeed in answering.

A philosophical breakfast promoting the book will take place on March 2nd, 2013, in the Sofia City Library, at 12:00. Parents, teachers and children are invited to learn about the book.

About Foundation BNP Paribas Bulgaria

In order to formally consolidate and reinforce its longstanding engagement to development of corporate philanthropy programs in the country, BNP Paribas Bulgaria has launched in the end of 2010 a local foundation. The Foundation BNP Paribas Bulgaria was created in close cooperation with the BNP Paribas Foundation – the corner stone of the Group’s philanthropy initiatives for the past 25 years.
The newly established entity structures BNP Paribas’ projects in Bulgaria and strengthens current programs. The aim is to contribute to Bulgaria’s social and cultural development through strong and long-term partnerships in the areas of social inclusion, education, culture and environment.

About BNP Paribas Foundation

Set up under the aegis of the Fondation de France, the BNP Paribas Foundation strives to preserve and bring to a wider public the historical treasures stored in museums, to encourage artists and performers in disciplines that attract little corporate funding, and to finance state-of-the-art research projects in the medical and environmental fields. The BNP Paribas Foundation also supports education, social integration, and projects for the disabled.
The corporate philanthropy policy of the BNP Paribas Group is managed by the BNP Paribas Foundation, the corner stone of the Group’s philanthropy initiatives for the past 25 years. Today, BNP Paribas Corporate Philanthropy is getting concrete through more than 500 programs all around the world, managed via a network of 10 foundations or initiated directly by countries and businesses. It is centered on 5 areas of activity: culture, social inclusion, education, health and the environment.
